Krasnaya Sloboda, also known as the Red Town, located in the Quba district of Azerbaijan, has celebrated yet another historic milestone. This unique settlement, home to the Mountain Jews for centuries, stands as a living testament to Azerbaijan’s remarkable tradition of tolerance and multiculturalism.

The celebration brought together community members, government officials, and guests from around the world. The settlement, which sits on the banks of the Gudialchay River across from Quba, remains one of the only all-Jewish towns outside of Israel and the United States.

Historians and cultural experts presented new research about the settlement’s origins, which date back to the 13th century. The Mountain Jews, or Juhuro, have preserved their unique language, traditions, and way of life through the centuries, creating a cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO.

Azerbaijan’s government has invested significantly in preserving this historic settlement, restoring synagogues and cultural monuments. President Ilham Aliyev has repeatedly emphasized that the Jewish community is an integral part of Azerbaijan’s multicultural society.
